Healthy Instant Pot Granola

This granola is so easy to make and full of crunchy clusters. I prefer it over the store bought brands since I control the the amount and type of sugar I add to the granola. This recipe uses dried cranberries and sliced almonds, but they can be substituted for any number of add-ins. See the notes for suggestions.

  • Instant Pot


  • 1 ½ cups old fashioned oats
  • 2 cups crisp brown rice cereal (Erewhon or Greenwise)
  • 2 egg white (large)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds


  • Lightly coat the inside of a 5 or 6 quart instant pot with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, rice cereal and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg whites and honey. Pour the honey mixture over the cereal mixture and toss with a spatula until all of the cereal is coated.
  • Pour the cereal mixture into the instant pot. Place the lid on, but leave a small opening to allow steam to escape. This will promote a crispiness to the granola.
  • Place your instant pot on slow cooker high setting and let cook for 3 hours (or until crunchy). Gently stir the granola every 45 minutes or so to ensure it is not sticking to the pot. I emphasize “gently” to ensure you don’t break down all of the granola clumps. You are simply ensuring it isn’t sticking to your pot.
  • Once the granola has reached your desired level of crunchiness, transfer it to a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil. Allow the granola to fully cool before adding the dried cranberries and almond slices.


Here are a list of other additions that can be substituted for the dried cranberries and almonds: pecans, walnuts, dried pineapple, coconut, chocolate chips, dried mango, raisins. Feel free to mix and match or use whatever dry ingredients you love the most.
